ST. PAUL - A man being sought by RCMP has been found, according to an update provided by St. Paul RCMP on April 13.
"St. Paul RCMP advise that Conrad Cardinal has been arrested and is in custody. There is no further risk to the public."
Background
A woman was found safe following what police described as an abduction that took place on April 7 at 10 p.m.
St. Paul RCMP released information at 1:40 a.m. on April 8, stating they had received a report of a break-and-enter and assault at a residence in Saddle Lake. By 2:28 a.m., a second media release was sent out with an update stating a school bus that had been reported stolen during the incident was found abandoned.
A third release sent out at 6:57 a.m. confirmed that a woman who had been reported missing was found safe.
The first media release from police stated, "Upon arrival, RCMP located signs that a couple was assaulted. One of the victims... was taken against her will and is missing." The woman was believed to be held against her will on a stolen school bus taken from the complainants residence.
While the woman was found, police had been searching for 37-year-old Saddle Lake resident Conrad Cardinal, in relation to the incident.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit had been dispatched to the community to assist with the investigation according to RCMP.
