Alberta man charged with arson in blaze that damaged three Airdrie homes

Medicine Hat resident Curtis Belcourt is seeking bail after being charged with deliberately setting a house fire in Airdrie that also damaged two neighbouring homes.

A multi-home fire in Kings Heights on April 11 resulted in arson charges laid against a man from Medicine Hat.

Curtis Belcourt was charged with arson causing damage to property, arson with disregard for human life, house breaking with intent, possession of a controlled substance, assault, assault causing bodily harm of a police officer, and attempting to disarm a police officer. 

The Airdrie fire department reported the house fire also damaged neighbouring homes.

Belcourt was scheduled to return to court in Calgary on May 1 for a decision on bail. That decision had not been released prior to press time.
