ST. PAUL – On April 29, the 2023 St. Paul Bengals received their championship rings in a ceremony at St. Paul Regional High School.
The Bengals were the 2023 Wheatland Bantam Football League champions. Representing northern Alberta, they also claimed their second consecutive bantam 9-a-side Tier 1 provincial championship during the last football season.
With a new football season set to begin, the newest Bengals' squad has started practices recently. Bengals head coach Derek Zapisocki is confident leading up to the season.
"I think it's gonna be another good year," says Zapisocki.
The St. Paul Lions also received their championship rings on April 10. In 2023, the Lions won their first provincial championship after 40 seasons.
