CALGARY — A Calgary family was terrorized on the weekend in what police are calling a violent home invasion gone wrong.

Police say two men entered a home Sunday armed with a semi-automatic rifle and taser then uttered threats and harmed two members of the family before realizing they had targeted the wrong house.

They say the men had restrained the two adults with zip ties and duct tape and tased them multiple times while confining four children in a separate room.

Police say the men demanded money, jewelry and drugs from the adults who protested that the offenders had the wrong house.

One of the adults was able to dial 911 and left the line open so dispatchers could hear the situation unfold.

Police arrived soon after and arrested the two suspects.

Tyler Justin Kowal, 34, of Winnipeg and Jessie Leslie Lunan, 32, of Surrey, B.C., face several charges including break and enter, wearing a disguise while committing an indictable offence, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
