Police say man dead after early morning shooting at Calgary restaurant

CALGARY — Police in Calgary say a man is dead following reports of gunshots at a bar early Sunday.

In a news release, police say they were called to the Ambassador Restaurant and Bar in the Radisson Heights neighbourhood at around 4:40 a.m.

They say officers found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound and began life-saving measures, but he died at the scene.

Police say witnesses reported hearing gunshots and then saw a man fleeing, and investigators are seeking a suspect described as approximately 30-years-old, 6' 2" tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

An autopsy for the victim is scheduled for Tuesday.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, or who was in the area at the time, to contact them.
