The 2023 Alberta Summer Games are officially underway after an opening ceremony at Seaman Stadium on Thursday night.

Over 2,500 student-athletes from across Alberta gathered in the stadium outfield as Indigenous performers drummed, sang and danced, followed by a performance by Spectacle Blue Circus School involving two aerial artists suspended over 50 feet up from cranes.

Also featured were cheerleaders from Calgary's Perfect Storm Athletics.

Then finally, the ATCO torch was lit. Let the games begin.
