KELOWNA - The Lake Okanagan Resort north of Kelowna has been destroyed by the McDougall Creek wildfire.
Photos sent to Castanet show catastrophic damage to the resort on Westside Road, north of Wilson's Landing.
It is not clear if any structures survived the fire.
Central Okanagan Emergency Operations overnight confirmed structural losses in the area but have been unable to provide details, as the wildfire fight still remains incredibly active.
McDougall Creek wildfire grown to an estimated 6,800 hectares, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service. By Friday morning, 2,462 properties had been evacuated with another 4,801 on evacuation alert.
Overnight, buildings in West Kelowna could be seen burning. Emergency officials have not released any figures describing how much damage has been done.
Firefighters expect another difficult day Friday.
