Small plane crashed on iced over Central Alberta lake Friday

RED DEER COUNTY – Innisfail RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board have concluded their investigation into the crash of a small plane on Gleniffer Lake during the afternoon of Feb. 25.

Innisfail RCMP Const. Neal Reynolds said in a news release that detachment members were dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. to Gleniffer Lake for a reported plane crash.

Reynolds said Innisfail RCMP attended with Red Deer County Emergency Services and EMS.

He said the small plane was located on ice-covered Gleniffer Lake near Rge. Rd. 30.

Reynolds said the lone pilot was uninjured.

He said in his news release that recovery efforts were underway to remove the plane off the ice.

Reynolds said circumstances surrounding the unintentional landing are not criminal in nature, and the investigation by Innisfail RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board has concluded.
