Two teenagers arrested after Vancouver man suffers 'horrific' stab wounds

Police arrested two teenagers after a 25-year-old man was stabbed repeatedly in downtown Vancouver Sept. 5.

A man is expected to survive "horrific" injuries after being stabbed this weekend, according to Vancouver police.

VPD officers were called to the Hornby Street SRO around 8 a.m. on Sept. 5 after a man walked in with multiple stab wounds, according to police. When officers arrived some tended to the victim while others pursued the suspects.

“Several eyewitnesses provided important information to VPD officers, which allowed us to quickly locate two suspects near Andy Livingston Park, in the Downtown Eastside,” says Sgt. Steve Addison in a press release.

Two suspects were arrested without incident, according to police, a 16-year-old girl and a teenage male believed to be her boyfriend (police haven't provided his age).

Police believe the stabbing was targeted and that the 25-year-old victim was known to his teen attackers.

"The victim was taken to hospital for urgent treatment," states Addison. "Miraculously, despite his horrific injuries, we believe he will survive.”

The VPD is asking anyone with information to call the major crimes section at 1-604-717-2541.
