An Edmonton band with local roots returned to perform at the Flint Field House on July 23. Sounscape performed an hour-long set of rock n' roll before Vancouver's Bif Naked hit the stage with an acoustic set of songs.
"It was nice seeing a lot of familiar faces there, that's for sure. A lot of them haven't seen us play for quite a few years," said singer Timmy Solo. "It felt really good. They really encouraged us to make the show worth their while."
He said the band has improved a lot since its last performance in town.
"We definitely want to go back and play some more shows."
The band transplanted to Edmonton in May of last year, where they picked up bassist Cody Anderson, who hails from Innisfree. Soundscape keeps a busy schedule of shows in the city, playing various venues along Whyte Avenue and in the area.
"It's great to be back," said guitarist Randy Bergh. He described Soundscape's sound as rock n' roll party music.
"It was a really good show. It was a lot of fun," Anderson said after the show. "We never played a show that size before so we had no idea what to expect. Everyone received us quite well. It was a really nice welcome."
The band used to be known as Recent Events of Tomorrow, but opted for the more succinct name of Soundscape shortly after moving to Edmonton.
