Collegiate futsal teams from across northern Alberta are once again playing the indoor soccer game in Lac La Biche.

Two weeks ago, over the January 19 weekend, after playing host to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Futsal North Regional Tournament, Portage College welcomed the northern teams once again over the Feb. 2 weekend. Mens's and women's teams from Keyano College, Kings University, NAIT, and Grande Prairie's Northwestern Polytechnic played the three-day event at the Lac La Biche Bold Center.

The competition got underway Friday evening with the Voyageurs men’s and women’s squads facing off against the NAIT OOKs. While the women dropped a 4-0 decision to the OOKs, the men’s game resulted in a 1-1 tie.  Teams payed four games apiece through the weekend, with top teams advancing to the league championships representing the northern ACAC futsal division.

Championships next

The top three teams from the north division will meet the top three from the south in the ACAC Futsal Championships that are being held in Lac La Biche on the March 8 weekend.
