It wasn’t just kids who had fun building creations out of LEGO or submitting those they had built prior to the competition. LAC LA BICHE - On Saturday, while futsal and minor hockey tournaments took place at Lac La Biche's Bold Centre, a group of local LEGO enthusiasts competed in a contest of a different kind - one that involved crafting creations from the popular blocks.

The annual Lac La Biche County LEGO Competition was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stuart MacPherson Public Library in in Lac La Biche. Creations could either be built onsite or dropped off to be judged later in the afternoon.

Kids-as well as adults-put their artistic abilities to work making a variety of colourful and interesting creations that included representations of popular films and comic books such as the Disney classic ‘The Little Mermaid’, Batman, Star Wars, and Iron Man. While some choose to build at their own pace, others took part in timed competitions where they were allotted only so much time to complete a project. For prizes, winners received LEGO and Duplo sets.

The competition featured four age categories ranging from six to adult, as well as categories for best onsite build and viewer’s choice. In addition to the competition and other activities, there was also a silent auction where people could bid on a LEGO version of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars as well as the Harry Potter Hogwarts castle.
