Snow talk takes over special council meeting on last day of May

The calendar might be heading into the hot summer months, but the agenda for a May 31 Lac La Biche County council agenda is taking elected officials back to the deep freeze.

Council will be discussing snow removal policies at their special meeting on Tuesday, May 31.

How roads are maintained in the winter months, if it's possible to have a three-day maximum for rural roadways to be plowed, and whether or not there are resources to clear downtown sidewalks are all on the agenda for the meeting that stems from discussion council last had with their Public Works department last winter.

The special meeting will focus on service levels, resources, costs and schedules for clearing rinks and trails during the snowy months.

The meeting starts at 9 am and is open to the public at McArthur Place or virtually through the county's website.

A private discussion will also be held behind closed doors about operational updates at the municipal water treatment plant. According to the meeting agenda, the water treatment plant discussions are to be held in-camera due to information being harmful to business interests of a third party.
