Summer Days Music in the Park offers great, free music

Edmonton – based hard rock trio Sweetwater, consisting of Jo McDonald (lead guitar and vocals), Don Marcotte (bass, lead vocals and harmony), and Digger Dave on Drums (drums, harmony vocals), played a number of classic rock tunes along with some of their own material. Chris McGarry photo.
After Sweetwater departed the stage, it was Last Minute’s turn to rock the night. The rock/country/pop group has become well known around Alberta playing concerts, weddings, bars, lounges fundraising events, and community celebrations such as Lac La Biche Summer Days. Last Minute has opened for such legendary acts as Trooper and Dr. Hook and has shared the stage with Brett Kissel, Theory of Deadman, and The Trews. The members of Last Minute are; Kurt Calliou (lead vocals), Kade Calliou (guitar), Russell Schott (guitar), Trevon Mullen (bass), and Ben Samuels (drums). Chris McGarry photo.

Summer Days just wouldn’t be the same without some free musical entertainment. Throughout the weekend, a handful of bands - including Last Minute and Sweetwater - performed on the stage in McArthur Park as part of the Music in the Park series. A decent – sized audience set up on the grounds in front of the stage to enjoy the shows, which began on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, going until 11 p.m. each day, including right up to the fireworks countdown on Sunday night.
