"I like it with the E"
Canadian country music start Gord Bamford had some fun answering an unusual comment during his interview for Lakeland This Week recently.
When asked about the spelling he chose for a particular word in his latest song release, Diamonds in a Whiskey Glass, Bamford, the 44-year-old country singer who was raised in Lacombe — born in Australia, and lives in Nashville, had an equally global answer.
"Great question on the spelling. It's generally spelled whiskey with an E in the United States and Ireland," Bamford said. "It is spelled Whisky without an "E" in Scotland and Canada ... I like it with an "E."
The new song, released at the beginning of November, was written by his Nashville based friend Buddy Owens. Bamford says the song has been in his catalog for a couple of years.
Lac La Biche concert next year
Bamford was supposed to have been bringing his #REDNEK music tour to Lac La Biche earlier this month on November 13 — but the tour was postponed due to COVID. He's expected to be back on the Bold Center stage for the re-scheduled concert next March 19. He's looking forward to returning. The Lac La Biche date is the only Lakeland venue on the tour.
