Badminton takes over Bold Center for Lakeland Districts

LAC LA BICHE - The Bold Center will be busy on Saturday as Lac La Biche's high school and middle school host the 2022 badminton Districts.

Teams of young athletes from Grade 5 to 9 in schools across the Lakeland will be competing through more than 600 individual games over the day.

Locally, teams from Caslan, Ecole Beauséjour, Ecole Plamondon, Aurora Middle School and JAWS qualified for the event after competing in the Ward playoffs last weekend.

The weekend will see more than two dozen categories ranging from Tyro (Grade 5) mixed doubles to senior boys singles.

Aurora Middle School will have  23 young athletes at Districts, JAWS will send two entries, one in the senior boys singles and the other in the senior boys doubles, Caslan will have two teams in boys doubles events and one team in mixed doubles. From Plamondon, Ecole Beausejour will be competing in five categories and Ecole Plamondon will see eight teams competing. Lac La Biche's Light of Christ Catholic School will have players in 11 categories and Ecole St Catherine will be fielding one player in the tyro division of girls singles.
