LAKELAND - It was a local finish in the boys championship game of the Lakeland Schools Athletic Association junior varsity volleyball finals.

The École Plamondon Hawks and the J. A. Williams Sharks were the last two boys teams competing in Tuesday's LSAA championships hosted by JAWS at the Bold Center Courts. The Hawks beat the Sharks to earn the junior varsity 2022 association pennant.

On the girls side, the Bonnyville's Ecole Notre Dame Wildcats steam-rolled through the round robin and championship games to win their pennant. Notre Dame faced the J. A. Williams Grade 9 Sharks in the finals.

The day of volleyball action brought Grade 9 and Grade 10 junior varsity teams from Cold Lake, Plamondon, Bonnyville and Lac La Biche to the court. The tournament is the final game of school-based volleyball for the junior varsity teams.

Throughout the day, dozens of fans watched and cheered teams from the Bold Center sidelines.
