Junior Districts wrap up Lakeland Grade 5-9 track season

Ecole Beausejour's Finley Doody finished the 100 metre hurdles at the Bonnyville Districts in first place. Ecole Plamondon's Corvin Hayes was just four tenths of a second behind in third place.
The JAWS and Ecole Beausejour 13-15 year boys 4X100 relay teams finished top two at Wards, but finished with Beausejour in fourth and JAWS in fifth place of the six team event at Districts. The Grade 9 team from the Cold Lake High School won the District top spot.

LAC LA BICHE - Lac La Biche's Aurora Middle School sent 60 young Athletes to the Grade 5-9 Lakeland Schools Athletics Association Districts in Bonnyville's Walsh Field last Tuesday, and they came home with the second-most medals of the 21 Lakeland schools competing.

When the dust had settled on 150 individual track and field events,  Ecole Dr. Brosseau School team took top team rankings from the junior high Districts, earning 238 medal points. Aurora came away with 207.5 points and the HE Bourgoin School team took third place with a team effort of 198.5 overall points.

Young athletes from schools in Lac La Biche County came from Ecole Beausejour, J. A. Williams, Ecole Plamondon, Caslan School, Ecole Ste. Catherine and the Light of Christ Catholic School.

One of the closest events of the District Day saw Ecole Beausejour Finley Doody win the boys 13-15 100 metre hurdles with a time of 16.6 seconds —   just three-tenths of a second over Ecole Notre Dame runner Carter Cain and four-tenths of a second ahead of third place finisher Corvin Hayes from Ecole Plamondon. The top five finishers in the race finished within six-tenths of a second behind Doody.
