ST. PAUL - There may have been a few snowflakes blowing in the air, but teams from across the Lakeland once again took part in an annual tradition that was forced to take a break during the pandemic.
The RCMP Road Race took place on May 10, which is a team relay running event that takes place along Highway 29, from St. Brides to St. Paul.
Volunteers from the St. Paul and Area Victim Services group helped by preparing lunch along with other supporters who helped throughout the day.
RCMP members, along with community members, also laced up their runners to take part in the road race. Additional RCMP members, peace officers and sheriffs helped with monitoring the highways and traffic control in order to keep athletes safe.
Each team member ran a one mile stretch along the highway before handing a baton off to the next teammate. The race has been a popular spring event for four decades. The event offered an opportunity for local law enforcement to connect with the community in a positive way.
