ST. PAUL - After a stand-out regular season and a strong first round of playoffs, the St. Paul Canadiens are now out of the North Eastern Alberta Jr. B Hockey League (NEAJBHL) playoffs.
The series began on March 1 with a tight game, and a 1-0 loss for the Canadiens against the Tigers at the Clancy Richard Arena in St. Paul.
On March 3, another battle saw the Canadiens lost 5-3 on home ice.
The team hit the road on March 5, and despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first period, the Tigers were able to respond with a goal in the second period, and another goal in the third, forcing the game to overtime. The Tigers' Conner Roscoe earned the game winning goal in the extra period, and gave Vermilion a 3-0 lead in the series.
Game 4 saw the Canadiens return to Vermilion on March 7. The Tigers took the lead early and never let go. A final score of 4-1 saw the Tigers sweep the series, and earn themselves in a spot in the NEAJBHL finals.
The other semi-final series between the Lloydminster Bandits and Wainwright Bisons was tied at 2-2 heading into the weekend. The teams are scheduled to play Saturday and Sunday, and will hit the ice for Game 7 if it is required on Tuesday. The winner of the series will take on the Tigers in the NEAJBHL finals.
