Grade 5-9 students from schools across the Lac La Biche region ran, jumped and threw for a chance to advance to the track and field District championships in Bonnyville on June 6.

The Track and Field Wards were held at the Lac La Biche's Bold Center track on Tuesday, drawing hundreds of young students competing in the Lakeland Schools Athletic Association (LSAA) event. The LSAA is divided into three wards across the Lakeland. The West Ward includes Caslan School, Ecole Ste Catherine, Aurora Middle School, Ecole Beausejour, J.A. Williams High School, Light of Christ Catholic School and Ecole Plamondon.

The top two finishers in each event earned an entry to the upcoming District event, where student-athletes in Grades 5-9 from 20 schools in the two other LSAA wards will compete.
