Voyageurs win first game of regular season

The Voyageurs are back on home ice Feb. 9 against NAIT. The Voyageurs are coming off a win-and-loss weekend series with SAIT.

LAC LA BICHE - The Portage College Voyageurs got their first regular season win over the weekend, thumping the SAIT Trojans 7-2 on Friday night in the first of a two-game away series in Calgary.

The win is the first regulation time victory so far this regular season for the Portage squad. The team did have an overtime win against Augustana in November and another overtime win against the same team last September in pre-season play.

The win split the weekend series with the Trojans, who won Saturday's rematch 4-3.

Friday's win added points to the Voyageurs' standings, but keeps them in last place of the seven-team Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.

With just six games to go before playoffs, the Voyageurs are 10 points behind sixth place Concordia University. Only the top six teams in the league advance to playoffs.

The Voyageurs next game is at home on Feb. 9 against the NAIT Ooks.
