ST. PAUL - About 40 cross-country skiers from the region gathered under sunny skies for a family fun ski at Westcove Park on Saturday afternoon.

The event was hosted by the Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club, which is based in St. Paul. The day includes a few ski lessons for those interested, and then skiers took to the trails to complete a 1 km, 5 km or 10 km loppet.

As skiers returned to the trail head, organizers and volunteers offered cheers and applause before each skier was handed a special medal, designed by St. Paul resident Monique Poulin at the St. Paul Municipal Library.

A special guest from the Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club, Les Parsons, gave demonstrations and lessons on skate skiing.

Participants travelled from the Vermillion Nordic Ski Club, Lakeland College, Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club, and different areas within the County of St. Paul and Town of St. Paul.
