BONNYVILLE – The 7-Eleven located in downtown Bonnyville has been linked to a confirmed COVID-19 case.
In an advisory issued on Jan. 25, Nexxus Group, the company which represents the local locations' primary point of sale systems, confirmed a confirmed case was linked to the 4819 50th Ave. location and a time frame around January 16.
Store officials are now alerting any members of the public who may have been in the store on and around that date over a week ago to monitor their health.
“As a neighborhood store and convenient delivery provider in so many communities, 7-Eleven Canada has taken steps to prioritize the health of our customers and employees across our 636 stores in Canada,” says Faaria Yakuba, a spokesperson for Nexxus. “We have enhanced our standards and procedures for hygiene, handwashing, sanitation, food handling and preparation in stores, and increased the frequency of cleaning high-touch surfaces. We have installed sneeze guards at sales counters and visual floor markers in checkout lines that reinforce social distancing, as well as limit customer traffic in stores.
This is the second COVID alert issued within the last month for a Bonnyville area 7-Eleven franchise. On January 4, Nexxus officials issued a similar caution after a positive case was associated to Bonnyville's newest 7-Eleven store on 37 Street. That advisory came out more than two weeks after the December 17 case was identified.
In today's advisory, store officials again say that enhanced cleaning measures continue to be in place.
“The health and safety of our customers, employees and the communities we serve is the top priority for 7-Eleven Canada,” Yakuba stressed. “We have thoroughly cleaned, sanitized and operated the stores in consultation with provincial Health Services.”
