Reporting to and receiving general management direction from the County’s Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Public Works operates within applicable legislation, the strategic plan, bylaws, policies, and the broad expectations of the County, and sets in motion plans and actions that lead to positive results for the County relative to public works services and programs.
The Director is expected to work collaboratively within the leadership team and is essential in assisting the CAO on proactively addressing and managing public works concerns that may be received.
The successful candidate will have progressive responsible experience at a management level within a public works department in a municipality and/or a related industry, including working with the public.
Related post-secondary education is required (e.g., Forestry or Civil Engineering). In addition, the successful individual must bring established competencies in building and maintaining relationships, establishing credibility, and building a reputation for tact and a participative management style.
Functioning respectfully in all circumstances, maintaining a positive work environment when addressing staff or public concerns, and having the ability to manage multiple priorities, including communicating clearly are all essential to this position.
