Cold Lake First Nation’s John N.A. Janvier School hosted its first Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) Awareness Walk on May 3.

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) is celebrating its centennial year, which included the unveiling of the 2024 CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team aircraft at 4 Wing Cold Lake on May 3. 

On May 1, the Lakeland Ride for Dad held its Media Kick Off Event to generate excitement and support for upcoming activities aimed at raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer research.  

Rick Janvier, a member of the Cold Lake First Nations from Treaty 6 territory, addressed City of Cold Lake council to request support for an upcoming event aimed at fostering stronger relationships between First Nations and non-First Nations communities.

City council took another look at its Vacant Lot Sale Incentive Program, amending how property owners could market the sale of land, while still qualifying for the program.

The Alberta government has launched a new funding initiative to support rural shelters. Among the communities set to benefit from the funding are St. Paul and Cold Lake. 

City of Cold Lake council gave final reading to an amendment allowing Indigenous ceremonial use of smoked products for smudging and pipe ceremonies in certain City facilities.  

A wildland fire that broke out behind Shoppers Drug Mart within the City of Cold Lake on the evening of April 27 was contained by Cold Lake Fire-Rescue, averting what could have been a much larger disaster. 

City of Cold Lake council received a request from Special Olympics Lakeland Chair Audrey McFarlane asking for $2,000 from the City to help fund an upcoming event - the Northern Alberta Qualifier for bocce. 

City of Cold Lake council has agreed to continue its Seniors Homeowner Rebate program, which aims to assist low-income seniors with their property taxes.
