OTTAWA — NDP health critic Don Davies says dental benefits for Indigenous people should be improved if the new national dental insurance plan offers better or more accessible services.

TROUT LAKE, ALBERTA, CANADA — Three northern Alberta First Nations have signed an agreement with the federal and provincial governments to be responsible for their own child welfare systems.

“My reward is getting to see other people get their foot in the door and get that experience. At the end of the day, if another Indigenous person, or better yet, someone from my own community can get their name on the big screen, that means a lot.”

“With this facility, we will be able to bring them in and have people living in their own community instead of going somewhere else for their long-term needs.”
