House fire west of Cold Lake remains under investigation

A structure fire that turned a rural home into rubble on the evening of Oct. 2 remains under investigation. Fire crews from Cold Lake responded with assistance from crews from La Corey and Iron River.

BONNYVILLE – The cause of a fire that destroyed a home in a rural residential area west of Cold Lake near Township 633 and Range Road 435 remains under investigation. 

Fire crews from Station 9 Cold Lake responded to the structure fire at 3 p.m. on Oct. 2.

“Upon arrival, crews found a residential home fully engulfed in flames,” stated Regional Deputy Chief Alicia Krawchuk with the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority (BRFA). 

Water tenders from Station 6 La Corey and Station 4 Iron River responded with their stations’ water apparatuses to support fire suppression efforts. 

“The home was a complete loss," noted Krawchuk, adding that the fire is currently under investigation.
