Bring your car down to the race track Sunday on Lac La Biche lake

Local drivers can bring their own vehicles down the ice racing track on the lake near McArthur Place on Sunday to battle the clock in timed races hosted by the Western Canadian Motorsports Association.

Bring your vehicle down to the on-ice racing track Sunday to get timed

If you were watching the race cars from the spectator viewing area at the recent Lac La Biche Winter Festival of Speed, there's a chance this weeeknd to get even closer to the action. Edmonton's rally racing club and the Western Canadian Motorsports Association are on the ice this weekend for some club racing on Saturday and then they're opening up the track to any local motorists who want to race the clock.

Festival of Speed organzier and local car racer Ken Staples says anyone wanting to test their skills ... and traction ... on the track that hosted the Western Canadian Ice Racing Championships over the Feb 22-23 weekend can simply roll down to the course on Sunday.

For those who still enjoy watching from the spectators seat rather than from the driver's seat, the WCMA time trials on Saturday will offer some of the province's fastest drivers racing the clock to fill in their racing timecards.

Staples says the racing won't be door-to-door action — but will still offer up some fast-paced excitement, with each WCMA racer battling the sweeping second hand of the starter's stopwatch.

Saturday's rally club time trials for their members runs from 11 am to 4 pm.

A small fee per entry will be required for local 'Sunday drivers. Local drivers looking for more details about the chance to challenge the track can click here.
