Lac La Biche area schools start week with COVID increases

Northern Lights School Division officials say staff and students at several schools in the Lac La Biche region are starting their school week with increased COVID cases as well.

Division officials are confirming two new cases at the J. A. Williams High School have pushed the school into Outbreak status, with more than five active cases. Kikino School is reporting two active cases, and Aurora Middle School is reporting a single active case. 

"Students and staff who are close contacts have been directed to quarantine," says NLPS spokesperson Nicole Garner.

Across the region, there have been other increases in active cases reported at school settings.

In the Lac La Biche area, Garner says the latest cases are only the second instance of active cases being reported in area schools since classes returned after the Christmas break.
