ASHMONT - As of Thursday afternoon, Ashmont School has 12 COVID-19 cases connected to the school.

Earlier in the week, 70 students were in isolation and 22 staff were also isolating. As of Wednesday, that number was slightly down to 66 students and 16 staff isolating until the middle or end of next week.

On Feb. 22, St. Paul Education announced students from kindergarten to Grade 6 at Ashmont School would be transitioning to at-home learning until at least Feb. 26. On Feb. 25, a letter was sent out stating at-home learning for the elementary grades would be extended. Students will now return to in-class learning on March 9, due to March 8 being a PD day.

The school remains open for students in Grades 7 to 12, and the school division is continuing to monitor the situation closely.

"As last reported to me, we have approximately 250 students registered as 'at-home' learners and 350 students attending on-site," said Brodziak, when speaking with LakelandToday on Feb. 25.

According to the Government of Alberta status map, an outbreak has not been declared, but the school is on 'alert' status.
