Most Lac La Biche fuel prices dip below a buck

Fuel prices sub-one dollar on Lac La Biche Main Street this afternoon at 3 pm. The first time the fourth number slot at local stations has been blank in more than four years.
Regular fuel prices were still at $1.05.9 earlier in the day at the Shell
Operators of La Biche’s Beaver Hill Shell dropped prices a little — down three cents at 4 pm today.

Regular unleaded fuel in Lac La Biche is below the dollar a litre mark for the first time in several years.

Fuel prices — at almost all local retailers — dropped in the community earlier today, with Main Street gas stations all showing 99.9 on their large signs at 2 pm.

The prices dropped from the previous day's $1.05.9

At the Beaver Hill Road Shell, the pumps stayed at $1.05.9 until after 3 pm, but then dropped three cents to $1.02.9 per litre.

The drops come as prices across the province also take a slide, with Edmonton fuel prices averaging 89.9 per litre of regular gasoline.

Despite the drop locally, many on social media sites continue to complain about the pricing disparity between the community's pumps and those in neighbouring jurisdictions. In Smoky Lake — a community less than an hour's drive away — on Friday afternoon, fuel prices for a litre of regular were at 91.9

The last time fuel prices for regular gasoline dipped below the dollar mark at Lac La Biche stations, according to www.GasBuddy.ca, was in 2015.
