The annual Family Day Festival hosted by Lac La Biche County will take place on Monday, Feb. 17 from 12 pm- 3 pm at the Alexander Hamilton Park.

There will be various winter activities such as sledding on the park's hills, and curling and skating on the frozen Hamilton pond, as well as live performances by Kehewin Native Dance Theatre Group and the music of local group, the Two Euros.

The day will also offer up some good food with free hot dogs, hot chocolate and cinnamon buns that will be provided by parishoners of the New Life Victory Church.

The Hamilton Park Family Day event is free to attend, but the Waskaysoo Community Food Bank is asking for non-perishable food donations to help fill their ice fishing tent that will be on-site.

Christine Martin, a community outreach worker with the Lac La Biche County, says the event is an excellent way for community residents to feel connected through music, activities, and food.

“The annual Family Day Festival allows us to be together, celebrate one another, embrace the outdoors, and allow people of all ages and backgrounds to feel connected,” says Martin.

If by chance, the temperature drops below -20 C, the event will be moved over to the Bold Center.
