Okotoks' train station had a brush with its historic past Friday.

Returning from a trip to Lethbridge from Calgary the day prior, the Canadian Pacific 2816 'Empress' passed through Okotoks on August 4.

The outing was a test run in advance of a special trip setting out on April 14, 2024 from Calgary to Mexico city, intended to commemorate Canadian Pacific's acquisition of Kansas City Southern to form Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC). Train groups were buzzing with activity as 'foamers' (hardcore trainspotters) followed the train to its various waypoints along the route.
