Provincial virus map still shows Lac La Biche with no confirmed cases

The Alberta government has an interractive COVID 19 map that some LakelandToday.ca readers have been asking about.

In the days since cases of the viral flu began to be confirmed in Alberta, health officials have stepped away from specifically detailing where active cases are happening. But the map does give general community locations of confirmed cases.

A map that breaks down the province into regional segments is available at the province's COVID 19 statistics page at this LINK. Users of the map simply hover the cursor over areas of the province and information presents as a popup. The map only shows confirmed cases. This afternoon, the Westlock area recorded its first official case. In the neighbouring communities of Bonnyville and Cold Lake, a combined four cases have been confirmed — three in Bonnyville and one in Cold Lake.

According to the map, there continues to be no confirmed cases in the Lac La Biche, Athabasca, Smoky Lake or Wood Buffalo regions.

There are currently 419 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Alberta. There have been two deaths related to the illness. More than 60 per cent of the cases are in the Calgary area.
