Quick response saves Lac La Biche garage

A truck was destroyed, but contents of a residential garage were saved following a Lac La Biche County Fire Services call on March 21

LAC LA BICHE - A fast response by fire crews to a vehicle fire complaint in a Lac La Biche residential neighbourhood likely saved a garage and its contents from total destruction.

Lac La Biche County Fire Services were dispatched to a home on the north-side of the Lac La Biche hamlet last Tuesday at about 6:30 pm on reports of a vehicle fire.

Fire crews took just seven minutes to arrive at the scene, says Lac La Biche County Regional Fire Chief John Kokotilo.

When crews arrived, a pickup truck parked on a driveway outside a detached residential garage was completely engulfed.

Some of the flames had started to spread to the garage, but crews managed to protect the structure and its contents.

"We protected the garage with minor damage and no injuries," said Kokotilo.
