The Lac La Biche junior B squad couldn't overcome a two goal deficit in the opening period of their home-ice tilt with the Killam Wheat Kings on Saturday night, losing the game 7-4.

Killam opened the scoring at the seven minute mark of the first, and the Clippers' Xander Ray notched an equalizer seven minutes later — but two more goals from the Wheat Kings before the end of the period kept the scoring balance for the night in Killam's favour.

Two goals from Clippers Pacen Cardinal and Mason Stabbler in the first half of the second, and an unassisted effort by Donald Fox were matched with three from the Killam side.  The third period's lone goal was from Killam with four minutes played.

The Clipper loss, their sixth of their 10 games so far in the season, keeps them in sixth place of the seven-team Northeastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League with nine points, seven ahead of the Lloydminster Bandits and five points behind the Vermilion Tigers.

The top three teams of the league, St. Paul in top spot with 21 points, followed by Wainwright and Killam, are all separated by just three points.

The next home game for the Clippers is Saturday, November 20 against the Wainwright Bisons. The puck drops for that game at 7:30 pm on Bold Center ice.
