They all won.

Grade 4, 5 and 6 teams playing in Saturday's invitational Triple Ball volleyball tournament at Lac La Biche's Light of Christ Catholic School all came away with shiny medals.

'Good try ... nice work," was the unofficial name of the annual tournament that sees youngsters get practice working with a team and learning fundamentals in the coach-assisted games.

Teams from Light of Christ, Aurora Middle School and Ecole Plamondon filled the two courts at Light of Christ's gym for the all-day event.

Family and fans watched the steady rotation of games from the school gym stage and alongside the busy courts.

Triple Ball allows coaches to toss in the ball to a designated player to start rallies. The game-style is common with younger players to help them with rallies and passing.

While the younger players were in Lac La BIche, a senior high school volleyball tourney was taking place in Plamondon and the junior varsity squads were competing at an end of the season tournament in Cold Lake.

We'll have results from the other volleyball action when they are made available.
