Bearspray incident being investigated at Airdrie middle school

Emergency services have cleared the scene at Ecole Airdrie Middle School, where a small group of youth were involved in an altercation involving bear spray.
Airdrie RCMP secured the area after human remains were found east of Airdrie on May 4.

An update from RCMP states Airdrie RCMP, Fire and EMS are no longer on scene at the Airdrie middle school where an altercation occurred involving bear spray.

The altercation took place outside, near Ecole Airdrie Middle School, around approximately 12:54 p.m.

An investigation is ongoing.

The altercation involved a small group of youth who do not attend the middle school.

A number of middle school students were outside during the altercation, stated the initial report. Students were not directly sprayed but were treated on scene by emergency personnel and school staff.

Approximately thirty-seven students were treated. Police asked parents not to attend the school and follow their normal student pick-up procedures.
