Calgary man charged with first degree murder of man found in grass fire

Christopher Stack, 39 of Calgary, is charged with the murder of with the first degree murder of Kyle Schuiling, who's body was found by firefighters at a grass fire outside the city.

On May 3, 2024, Christopher Stack (39), a resident of Calgary, was charged with the first degree murder of Kyle Schuiling.

After a Judicial Interim Hearing, and two subsequent court appearances, Stack has been remanded and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on May 27, 2024.

According to the RCMP, on April 3, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 in Rocky View County. While they were extinguishing the fire, human remains were located. 

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on April 4. Police treated the death as a homicide.

The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling, a resident of Calgary.
