Calgary Police Service issued a warning Wednesday after the release of Paul Algino Barrett.

In the interest of public safety, the Calgary Police Service issued a warning Wednesday in regards to the release of a high-risk offender.

Paul Algino Barrett, 23, was released after serving a two-year sentence for break and enter with intent.

Barrett has two previous convictions for break and enter with intent, which were believed to be sexually motivated and random in nature. Other convictions include weapons offences and breaches of court orders. All of his crimes have occurred in the Calgary area.

Barrett is subject to a three-year probation order and will be closely monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program.

He is described as a Black male, 6’1" tall, and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The Calgary Police Service said it’s issuing the information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform members of the community of the release of Barrett.

Police say the intent of the warning is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.

The Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program monitors offenders who have been released by the courts to the Calgary community and who have been determined to have a high-risk to reoffend.
