Death of person found on Airdrie pathway, death deemed 'suspicious' by RCMP

Several RCMP vehicles pulled in to the neighbourhood of WIllow Brook on Jan. 26 as part of an ongoing police investigation.

UPDATE: In an end-of-day update, Airdrie and Alberta RCMP have confirmed the discovery of a dead body in a residential neighbourhood on Jan. 26.

"On Jan. 26, 2022 at approximately 8:38 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to a complaint of an unresponsive male found along the pathway of Nose Creek, behind [the Willow Brook] neighbourhood," stated a press release.

"RCMP can confirm that a deceased person was located. At this time the death is believed to be suspicious."

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and the Forensic Identification Section has also been called in to assist, according to the release.

An autopsy has been ordered by the office of the Chief Medical Examiner and will be conducted in the coming days.

An update will be provided when further details can be released.
