Drugs, guns and hundreds of stolen ID cards seized in search by police

A St. Albert resident who is under 24-hour house arrest for property and drug charges is once again facing a slew of charges after police searched her residence.

A St. Albert resident who is under 24-hour house arrest for property and drug related charges was once again arrested and charged with drug related offences after police searched her residence.

On Nov. 18, RCMP arrested and charged Amy Actimichuk, 38, and Dustin Orvis,35, after an executed search warrant resulted in police locating and seizing weapons, drugs, and items to commit fraud.

Police found a 9mm handgun; 22 caibre rifle; ammunition and magazines; 151 grams of methamphetamine; 52 grams of fentanyl; $160 Canadian currency; a grenade, body armour; hundreds of fraudulent and stolen identifications; cheques; credit cards and passports; seal embosser stamps; embossing machine; card printing machine; debit and credit card machine, according to a press release by St. Albert RCMP on Nov. 24.

According to the press release, the St. Albert CRU had been monitoring Actimichuk for several months.

“St. Albert CRU learned that the female was in possession of a firearm, which she is under a court order not to possess,” the press statement read.

The search of the residence was executed by the St. Albert Crime Reduction Unit with the assistance of the St Albert Drug Unit, St. Albert General Investigation Section, St. Albert General Duty, K Division Explosive Disposal Unit and K Division Criminal Intelligence/Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta.

Actimichuk was charged with one count alter or deface a firearm; possession of prohibited or restricted firearm without a licence to possess; two counts unlawful possession of a controlled substance; carry or handle or transport firearm in a careless manner; possession of a firearm for a purpose dangerous to the public; possession of body armour without valid permit; five counts fail to comply with conditions of a release order; unlawful possession of a credit card; two counts possession of procured identification document; possession of property obtained by crime.

Dustin Orvis was charged with two counts alter or deface a firearm; two counts possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with licence to possess; two counts unlawful possession of a controlled substance; two counts carry, handle, or transport firearm in a careless manner; possession of a firearm for a purpose dangerous to the public; possession of body armour without a valid permit; possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; possession of property obtained by crime; three counts failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

Both Actimichuk and Orvis were remanded in custody and will appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on Nov. 28, 2022, said police.
