Fort Saskatchewan RCMP charge two for drunk driving one vehicle

A 25 year old man and a 23 year old woman are each facing drunk and dangerous driving charges after Fort Saskatchewan police say a vehicle hit several other vehicles in a restaurant parking lot before colliding with a semi-truck on an adjacent roadway.

No one was reported to be injured in the series of crashes that police say took place last Saturday and involved two people reportedly switching places in the vehicle's driver's seat during the spree.

Police say they responded to reports of multiple hit and runs in the parking lot of the Boston Pizza in the community, and through the course of the investigation determined a female driver had been trying to back out of a parking stall when she allegedly hit three parked vehicles. According to police, the female driver then switched seats with her male passenger who drove the vehile out of the parking lot, but collided with  another vehicle at a nearby four-way stop. Police then allege the same vehicle caused a head on collision with a semi truck.

Police say that breath samples taken from both of the supsects were found to be three times over the legal limit of .08.

The 25-year-old female driver has been charged with seven offences including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The 23-year-old male driver has been charged with six offences including, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident

Both drivers were released from custody and are set to appear in court on May 7, 2020 in Fort Saskatchewan.
