Man suspected of murdering Okotoks woman arrested

Gerald Russell Frommelt, 37, suspected of killing Jamie Lynn Scheible, 23, on April 7 has been arrested.

The man suspected of murdering former Okotoks resident Jamie Lynn Scheible was arrested Friday. 

According to a news release from Calgary Police Services, Gerald Russell Frommelt, 37, was arrested just before 4 p.m. on May 6 at a residence in the 1900 block of 24 Street SW. 

Scheible, 23, went to Foothills Composite High School where she was a member of the cheerleading team. 

The young woman was shot and found deceased in a home in the northeast community of Temple on April 7

Police identified Frommelt as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest on April 12. 

"After further investigation, we have determined that the victim and accused were recently in a relationship and we believe this to be a domestically-motivated homicide," Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta with the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit said at the time.
