Okotoks RCMP releases surveillance of suspect in Pride crosswalk mischief

Surveillance in area shows a male suspect on a skateboard carrying what is believed to be bags of white paint.

Okotoks RCMP has released surveillance regarding its investigation of mischief to the Pride crosswalk last week.

On June 13, 2023, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Okotoks RCMP officers were on patrol when they noticed fresh white paint splashed across the Pride crosswalk in Okotoks. The crosswalk had been painted with a rainbow. Suspects also smeared paint on the crosswalk sign.

According to a June 21 RCMP press release, surveillance in the area shows a male suspect on a skateboard carrying what is believed to be bags of white paint. He ran back and forth across the sidewalk spilling the paint and then wiped the post with it. The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and jeans and was carrying a skateboard.

Until suspects are identified and interviewed, their exact motivations remain unknown, the release added.
