ST. ALBERT  The trial for the slaying of a St. Albert senior was slated to be begin next week, but has once again been delayed, to nearly six years after his death.

Beryl Musila has been ordered to stand trial for the murder of Ron Worsfold, which is slated to begin on April 24 and run until June 2. Musila will have a trial by jury.

Musila, who was 28 at the time she allegedly committed the crime, is also facing charges of indignity to human remains from the incident.

Worsfold went missing on July 7, 2017 and his body was found in a rural area of Parkland County near Stony Plain on July 9, 2017.

Since his death, the trial has been delayed multiple times and Musila faced a preliminary inquiry in March and April 2018, after which the judge ordered her to stand trial.

Musila was originally scheduled to stand trial for the murder of the St. Albert senior starting April 14, 2020, at Court of Queen's Bench in Edmonton. However, the trial was delayed until fall 2021 and once again until October 2022.

The trial was then scheduled to start on April 17, but has been delayed one more week.

The Gazette will have updates on the trial at stalbertgazette.com
