A 30-year-old St. Albert woman has died following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 east of Morinville this morning, RCMP say.

RCMP are still on the scene of the crash investigating, but Cpl. Troy Savinkoff with RCMP K-Division told the Gazette that road conditions were a factor.

“Morinville RCMP initially received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 and Township Road 552,” Savinkoff said.

“Upon arrival, there was one injured victim that was being tended to by civilians on scene, EMS took over but unfortunately, the 30-year-old resident of St. Albert passed away on scene.”

Savinkoff said he didn't have any information about the condition of the driver of the other vehicle, but RCMP will have more details to share later today.

“The investigation is still early on, but I can tell you that road conditions absolutely played one of the factors in this collision.”
