Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to support organizational goals and legal requirements.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff across all departments
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and occupational health and safety regulations, and best HR practices.
• Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary procedures.
• Maintain and oversee payroll, benefits administration, and performance management systems.
• Provide strategic HR support to leadership, including workforce planning, training, and development initiatives.
• Foster a positive work culture that reflects the values of Whitefish Lake First Nation.
• Maintain accurate HR records and handle confidential information with integrity.
• Assist in workforce planning, succession planning, and employee engagement strategies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 2-5 years of HR management experience, preferably in a First Nation or public
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and Indigenous workplace dynamics .
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with HR software is a plus.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality. Experience in recruitment, employee relations, and policy development.
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and governance is considered an asset.
• HR certification (e.g., CPHR).
Compensation:
• Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience & qualifications.

Working Conditions:
• Office-based role (negotiable) with occasional travel as required.
• Interaction with leadership, staff, and community members.
• Occasional evening or weekend work for meetings or events.
• Understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and sensitivity to the needs of the community (preferred).
