Bonnyville, Lac La Biche and 16 other teams honour slain brothers

Tournament on Lac La Biche and Plamondon rinks remembers young brothers murdered by their father

LAC LA BICHE - A Beaumont minor hockey team was the host of an 18-team tournament that took over the ice of the Bold Center and Plamondon Coop Arena over the weekend. The teams played to honour the memories of two young brothers killed tragically in Spruce Grove in 2016.

The R&R Memorial Tournament is an annual event normally held in the Edmonton area each year to remember brothers Ryder 13, and Radek11, murdered by their biological father. Organizers and the Beaumon Amateur Hockey Association teamed up with Lac La Biche County officials this year, making the annual  tournament an "away" series, bringing the teams to the Lac La Biche and Plamondon arenas.

The weekend saw 35 games played at the Bold Center over the three-day event and a dozen games played in Plamondon.
